When I was a little girl I always enjoyed dressing up as a witch almost every Halloween. I just enjoyed the the mystery and the history that witches have with all Hollows eve and could not wait to dress up. As an adult I really want my Halloween costumes to be more realist and with much less plastic. I looked around for a witch broom and noticed that their are not a lot of options or in the style I would like to own. Then it came to me to just make my very own witch broom!
I went on the hunt at my local craft shops for wooden sticks and anything that I could use to make my witch broom. Started looking for the three parts that make up parts of the witch broom.
Once I got all my items together, I went to work with my twine and straw or sea grass on this instance. The sea grass was my top choice because it look much more realistic on my witch broom and of course it was on sale!
I went a head and tied small amounts of sea grass at a time around my wooden stick, which happens to be a bamboo stick. The bamboo stick had a rich dark color which I really liked and went with my decor.
I also decided to make a different witch broom and more in the style of a winter witch inspiration.
Tied a small amount of twigs first then added more and tied it around over each other. Repeated the same steps until the wood was completely covered with twigs.
Dried sticks which I got from Trader Joe’s that smell from like cinnamon. Perfect for all year around decor. Purchased two and took them apart to use on the witch broom as seen above. Trust me when I tell you to maybe use something underneath while taking it apart because it will leave a mess and not fun to step on when walking around.
The final look it great and makes great all year decor. I used it to set next to my door or during the rest of the year it actually over my door way. Keeping all the negativity outside my door and non in my home year around.
I have two different kind of witch brooms ready for hollows eve! My darker broom is much taller and a little bit more fragile and I keep it upside down and next to one of my favorite chairs.
What will you be this Halloween? I hoping to dress myself my littles as the Sanderson sisters because its not Halloween with out Hocus Pocus.
