Faux Pallet Art Tutorial with FloraCraft® Make It: Fun® Foam

If you are having the same problem as me, where you are not able to find pallets like everyone else seems to be but you really want one? Then I have the project for you. I am using foam from FloraCraft® Make It: Fun® Foam to make my very own faux pallet art. I could not believe that I could actually make foam look like a pallet until I tried.

You will need a couple of things, first I used two FloraCraft make it: Fun Foam 12'' x 36'' and marked the foam every three inches so I knew where to cut. 

Now the cutting began, using Make it: Fun foam cutter.

 

The cutter did the job fast and easy! Just make sure you don't go too deep and cut the carpet like I almost did, hehe.

After all the pieces where cut I applied the smooth finish to it. the smooth finish helps the foam be less porous and add texture to the foam. I will tell you to apply the smooth finish in a well ventilated area because it has a strong odor. The smooth finish is very soft and applies very easily to the foam, almost like paint.

My hubby was super sweet to help me paint the foam. He is way more talented at painting than I could ever be. He use different shades of brown to transform the foam. All the paint used was acrylic paint with a simple brush.

Now the foam looks like real wood! I used tacs and place them in a heart shape to add a yarn heart to my faux pallet.
