Interview with Dinah at DIY Inspired

Today we are joined by my good friend Dinah from DIY Inspired, if you you have not stop by her blog you should she is full of inspiration. Come and join us to get to know her.

1. What’s the reason you began blogging?
I think similar to other fellow Mommy Bloggers, My husband and I decided that it’d be best if I stay home when got pregnant with my daughter.  I have always been a “career girl” so blogging was a way for me to gain back some sense of control in my life after feeling like I lost some.

2. What’s your favorite DIY project you have done?
Oh my gosh, I feel like I have become more creative since when I first started blogging.  I’m pretty happy with my garage sale bench makeover and my book page butterfly wreath, but I really love one of my most recent ones, my map covered craft drawers.  This project was so simple and anyone can do it.  I just loved the way they turned out.  The maps are somewhat masculine but the blue crystal knobs are very feminine.

3. What hidden talent do you have, in which you have not shared with your fellow readers? Hmmmm… I had a hard time answering this one so I asked my Mom and my Dad.  My Mom said, I can play the piano. My Dad said I could act.  This reminded me of when I was in junior high and got hired to do a local WIC commercial.  They stuffed my shirt and I played the roll of a pregnant teenager.  My one line was, “I’m a pregnant teen and I love the peanut butter.”  It was embarrassing for me but my friends thought it was so cool that I was in a commercial.

4. What are your blogging goals have you set for 2013?
I would like to build and maintain long term business partnerships with companies and agencies and also build more friendships with fellow bloggers.

5. It seems like it that time of the year where a lot of blogging conference are happening. Have you attended any and if so which one would you recommend?
I sadly have only been to one last year, the Socal Social and I would HIGHLY recommend it and look forward to this years event.  Maybe I should add, “Go to more Blog Conferences” to question number 4!

6. What was the best blogging tip you ever received and would pass on?
Be consistent and professional.  Post five days a week to build quality unique content and the fans/visitors/sponsors will come!

7. Do you find it easy in reaching out to other bloggers?
I didn’t at first!  I felt somewhat alone for a long time…honestly until recently!  I did attempt to reach out to some bigger Bloggers I followed and not one of them returned my email. So sad!  So now, I made a promise to myself to always return emails no matter how big I got even if it took me a week or two to respond.  Now I try to get involved in more Blogger groups and communities of Facebookand Google+.

8. How do you believe you are able to determine yourself between a small blog,a medium blog, large blog and a super star?
In my head I’m a super star…LOL… but I’m probably a medium blog.  I am just basing myself against other relationships with fellow Bloggers I’ve recently met.

9. Where do you see yourself and your blog in five years?
Super star status of course!  I’d love for this to be a more than full time income for me and my family.  I’d love to be known not just as a Blogger, but as a writer and publisher, maybe even a speaker.

10. Anything else you would like add?
If anyone reading this interview needs help, advice about blogging, or just wants to say hello, please feel free to send me an email at dwulf@diyinspired.com.  I promise I’ll return it!! Thank you, Loren for allowing me to be a part of your 14 days of blogger interviews!  You are my very first TRUE blogger friend, a great creative inspiration to me, and I know we will be friends until the day we die!
XOXO

Interview with Sarah from Becoming Martha

Today we have Sarah from Becoming Martha and I am very excited to share what she had to say in our interview in 14 days of blogger love.

1. What’s the reason you began blogging?
I was in love with the craft blogs that I was visiting, and I wanted to share my own creativity with the world as well.

2. What’s your favorite DIY project you have done?
I think my personal favorite project that I have every done was upcycling gift bags into notebooks.  My kids went absolutely nuts over them, and they are so used to having a crafty mom that not much fazes them anymore.  These blew their minds, and I was so happy I could surprise them with a cute, yet simple, gift.
3. What hidden talent do you have, in which you have not shared with your fellow readers?
I have an Etsy store that I don’t promote a whole lot on my blog.  I do custom and premade blog designs as well as custom party printables.   I taught myself a bit of graphic design when I was planning my wedding in 2009, and I have loved it ever since.  I would love to learn more.

4. What are your blogging goals have you set for 2013?
To stick to a regular schedule and use my time more wisely… which means less pinterest, more projects!

5. It seems like it that time of the year where a lot of blogging conference are happening. Have you attended any and if so which one would you recommend?
I have never attended any, but I do have a ticket for SNAP! 2013 in April.  I am super excited, and can’t wait to meet everyone.

6. What was the best blogging tip you ever received and would pass on?
That you need to have good photos.  Mine still aren’t amazing, but they are getting better, and I pay a lot more attention to them now.  We live in a world where Pinterest generates most of our traffic, and we need to appeal to that visual audience.  Also, take advantage of your blogs space and make your pictures as big as you can.  Nothing’s worse than squinting at a photo that is half of your blogs width.  Bigger is better folks.

7. Do you find it easy in reaching out to other bloggers?
I struggled with this at first, and still do, but last year, I reached out to three other bloggers and we became a tight knit group of friends.  They have been such an encouragement and blessing to me that I now feel much more comfortable stepping outside of my zone.

8. How do you believe you are able to determine yourself between a small blog,a medium blog, large blog and a super star?

9. Where do you see yourself and your blog in five years?
I would love to be helping other bloggers develop their skills, and maybe doing more graphic design.  I would also love to grow my blog to the point where i have contributing writers to take a little of the pressure off myself.

10. Anything else you would like add?
I love this blogging community –  and that’s what it is, a community.  Just like any other community, you will find people who want to tear you down, but you will also find twice as many people who want to build you up.  If you are starting out, find a couple of other bloggers like you and form a support network.   I blogged on my own for a year, and once I partnered up with  my tribe, I grew to over 10x my size in 6 months.  You can do it alone, it is possible, but it’s so much easier not to.

Blogging Interview with Sugar Bee Crafts

We are going to start the 14 Days of Blogger Love with the wonderful Mandy from Sugar Bee Crafts! I have been a long time follower and just love everything she come us with. Mandy is going to share some blogging tips and a couple things about herself lets get started.

1. What’s the reason you began blogging?  I think I’m like most people – – it was just a small extension of my family blog – my family blog was getting overrun with projects of mine that I was wanting to show off to friends and family, so I started a separate craft blog to give them their own place.  I loved sharing them with people I knew, so it was a natural progression to share projects with the blogging world.

2. What’s your favorite DIY project you have done?  Great question!  I think it changes all the time, but right now I’m still loving the giant picture that’s in my dining room.

3. What hidden talent do you have, in which you have not shared with your fellow readers?

I don’t think I hide anything!  I just put it all out there, so if I can attempt something, then my readers have heard about it.

4. What are your blogging goals have you set for 2013?

I would like to treat my blog more like a “business” – I know it’s a fun place for me to share projects and encourage creativity, but I feel that if I look at it with more of a business mindset then it can grow and I can expand and influence even more people.

5. It seems like it that time of the year where a lot of blogging conference are happening. Have you attended any and if so which one would you recommend?

I have only attended one, SNAP 2012, and I loved it and have already purchased my ticket for SNAP 2013 – I think it was a great place to learn and grow and be surrounded by people who all have the same interests and passions as yourself.

6. What was the best blogging tip you ever received and would pass on?

Hmmm, I would say to be yourself – – there are tons of blogs out there, but your readers come to your blog for you, so be sure to show yourself.

7. Do you find it easy in reaching out to other bloggers?

I struggle with reaching out to other bloggers – I feel comfortable with my readers but I need to expand more and push myself to interact with other bloggers.

8. How do you believe you are able to determine yourself between a small blog,a medium blog, large blog and a super star?

I think every blogger is a SuperStar!  It’s your own blog world that you have created, and you are the start of the show.  You can tell the difference between small blogs and large blogs based on their number of followers, etc, but every blog has a SuperStar built in.

9. Where do you see yourself and your blog in five years?

That’s so hard to picture!  If you would have asked me that five years ago, I wouldn’t have dreamed that I would be where I’m at today, so I can’t image what the future will bring – will blogs even be around?  Technology and social media is always evolving and changing, I just can’t even guess what will come next.

10. Anything else you would like add?
Thanks so much for the opportunity!  I truly LOVE blogging and I think everyone should give it a try – – it’s a creative space of your own where you can thrive and grow – – I try to tell everyone that they need to start a blog!

I want to thank Mandy again for taking part! I hope you come and join me tomorrow for more fun. Keep joining us for the next 13 days for more blogging tips from wonderful bloggers!
