Its video time again. I decided to show you guys the different paperclips I have made for my Foxy fix TN.  The paperclips can also be used in any planner you own to make them stand out from everyone else. I used items I found at my local Michael’s with paperclips I purchased from office depot. I just enjoy working with gold paperclips they seem to make shine.

I hope you all enjoy the video!

How to Plant Succulents

Planting succulent and taking care of plants has never been really my thing to do. I always believed I had a black thumb when it came to gardening. Especially since my hubby family can grow  just about anything and have beautiful gardens in their homes. I have tried  a couple a time a year to keep a plant alive but I always seem to kill everything that touched my hands. However, that never seem to deter me from trying again since  I always wanted to be surrounded my nature which can be very hard when you are living in apartments in any major city at any given time.

One day my friend told me that I should try succulents. They are everywhere in California since it does not rain very often and they are so easy to care for and you could pretty much find them in everyone gardens. She had a few clipping she gave and told me to plant them and see how it goes. At the time I did not know it was a Jade plant clipping she gave. Of course having done no research I just planted the clippings in regular soil and tried to ignore them as much as I could, which is not hard to do when you have kiddos running around.

To my amazement it grew and grew and now is doing fantastic. As you can imagine I finally found a plant that I can’t kill! Unless I try really, really hard, haha. Now I have three full shelves of succulent that are growing more with each passing year. Here I am to give you a few pointers on how to grow your succulents and not to make a few mistakes like I did when I first started. I am still learning of course and I have ventured into house plants and they all alive!  One day I hope to be able to keep a rose bush alive. I love roses but I just can’t seem to keep them alive and don’t get me started with Orchids!!

Once you get a Jade plant clipping your how to  plant succulents adventure will begin. You will need it to let it dry for at least week. You will see a scab on the bottom of the stem. Once that is achieved you can plant it in soil. When is drying keep it out of direct sun light of it will dry it and burn it.

Succulent, succulent care, succulent diy, planting succulent, jade plant, plant care

Unlike me, you might want to  use cactus / succulent soil which is a well drain soil. You don’t want the succulents roots to rot with too much watering. You will want to water once to twice week depending on the time of year and where you have placed your succulent. My succulents are outside and during the summer months my Jade needs watering twice a week since the temperature can do up to 100 degrees. During the winder months Jade will need watering maybe once every two weeks since it stops its growth during low temperatures.

Can you spot the Pikachu?!

I usually replant my succulents every two years. My Jade seems to grown faster and I have pottered it twice already in two years however, I have noticed that it has stop growing and the pot seems to small. It can mean that it is not getting enough light, water or nutrients for the soil. I know it get more than enough light since its tips are red from the sun. I water it at least once a week at times twice a week. All that is left is that it has used up all of the  nutrients in the soil and I need to change its pot as well. Plants are simple to read and you just can’t go wrong.

If you are like me and want to try your hands at how to plant succulents then  give a Jade succulent a try and you will be surprised with the outcome!

Hope this helped!!

Newest Pokemon Stationary Craft

During the past year I’ve been getting into stationary and I just can’t seem to get enough. I find at times I find it that is worst than crafting supplies since they are much smaller and at first you don’t think you have enough. Right now I have to tell you, I do have enough, to make my newest Pokemon stationary craft.

Newest Pokemon Stationary, Pikachu, stationary, paperclips, DIY, crafts, key cap,

I am always looking at all the wonderful crafter’s making cute paperclips but as much as I like beautiful things, I also like geeky things. At the moment I don’t see many people making geeky stationary. It is how my newest Pokemon stationary craft was born.

I went to  a Japanese store and while browsing I found these cute Pokemon key caps/covers and as soon as I saw them it came to me. I purchase three of the original Pokemon, Pikachu, Charmander and Bulbasaur. Pokemon was popular when I was a kid and now that I am an adult my children get to enjoy them as well. We like to play Pokemon go when we go on walks and they have a fun time trying to catch them all! haha.

I would have to say Pikachu is my favorite Pokemon but I really wanted to catch a Snorlax and tonight while writing this, I did! I was just like a little kid when I found one! My hubby just looked at me and smiled. He likes it when I act like a little kid at times since its a rare occurrence . Which is your favorite Pokemon?

I have a video right below where you can see the tutorial!  Give the newest Pokemon Stationary craft a try and hope you enjoy it.

Keep playing!

Mason Jar Succulent Planter

Spring is in the air and going to your favorite nursery might be one of your favorite spots to go  which is definitely what I like to do. I try really hard to control my urge to buy to0 many plants at one time which is extremely hard to do!  I have a wish list of succulents I would love to own and it seems to be getting bigger and bigger with each day. Flipping through Instagram make my wish list get longer due to the beautiful succulents everyone owns and I also started to explore getting more house plants. The hubby wants to have more greenery in the house and I am not going to say no and that’s how mason jar succulent planter came to be.

I won’t lie to you, once upon a time not too long ago…(sounds like star wars, haha. Sorry I geeked out for a minute there) I use to kill plants by just looking at them. However, for the past two year I have been able to keep succulents alive.  As I was told and have experienced they are the easiest plants to keep alive.  Now I am exploring how to place them in cute little thing like Mason jars. I love Mason jars and if I find something to put in them I will! I had this old Mason jars lemonade dispenser which the nozzle could never get clean enough to use again. When I wanted to throw it out the hubby could not bring himself to do it and I finally decided to do something with it. After a week it finally came to me what I could do with it and I turned it into Mason jar succulent planter.

The beautiful succulent  string of pearls which can be very fragile and needs to be handle with care at times was the plant I choose to place inside my Mason jar succulent planter.  I have had the string of pearls for two months and tried to keep it shaded area so it would not burn. It was  watered once a week. It survived and now it needs a new home! ( insert happy dance!)

First I collected a few things. I got some succulent soil. Succulents like well drain soil to avoid their roots from rotting.

succulents, mason jar, mason jar lemonade dispensor, string of pearls, plants, diy, home decor, succulent soil, crafts

Wood chips for the bottom of the pot will help with drainage. The Mason jar succulent planter is very big and I just did not want to make it super heavy or add too much soil the succulent will probably not use. Specially since I have so many new babies coming in the near future. Woohoo! I love spring!!

orchid soil, orchid, succulents, mason jar, mason jar lemonade dispensor, string of pearls, plants, diy, home decor, succulent soil, crafts

I filled the bottom with wood chips to allow the succulent drain well.

Followed with adding cactus  and succulent soil to the top.

Then I place my string of  pearl succulent on the top.

Finally just add my string of pearls and made sure all the roots are covered by soil, followed my watering. All done with my Mason jar succulent planter, fast and simple!

Its all done with my Mason jar succulent planter.

Happy planting !

Please bear with me as I am probably going to start blogging slowly but soon should be back blogging full time. I have a few exciting thing in the works and can’t wait to show you all.

Saving with Albertsons and Safeway this Easter!

We all find ourselves trying to find the best deal to save some money. Especially as a mom to a few little kiddos money does not always seem to stretch as far as it use to and I am always trying to find the best way to make it work. Right now I found out that Albertsons and Safeway are having a great promotion on their gift cards! When you purchase a $50 gift card at their locations they will give you $10 off at your next grocery purchase of $25 or more! The easy part is that they give you coupon right there when your purchase your gift card and you can use it within 7 days.

If you are not sure what you need a gift card right now, well think about maybe Easter outfits for the family ! My kiddos always seem to end up with about three different outfits for Easter. Their current outfits in these pictures are from Children’s Place and Gymboree which happen to be two gift cards I could purchase at the participating grocery store.  My son got the hat, tie, jeans and shirt from Children’s place. He is always stylish. My little one is wearing Gymboree which they have the most cutest bunny outfits. Her sweater an even her shoes have bunny ears  all from Gymboree. Of course I could have save a little more with the gift cards while purchasing their Easter baskets.

As for the  Easter basket for those special kiddos you might have in your life you can get them something goodies at the grocery store.  I know my little ones keep asking me for some Legos and candy as Easter approaches. I don’t think they understand that the Easter bunny leaves eggs and not toys like Santa. hehe

In my life very recently I had 4 birthdays back to back and could always use general gift cards for family and friends as gifts. If you don’t have a birthday coming you can always save them for a later time use. The great thing this promotions is good from 4/5 to 4/18 just right after Easter. Of course also right before my birthday, just in case you had me in mind (wink, wink). I might get myself a few gift card to spend on my birthday or even for mother’s day for my special mom and mother in law.  Especially since I always have such a hard time trying to figure out what to get my mother in law for a gift. I don’t like to get any mom house items as a gift. I want them to splurge on themselves and get something they want and not so much something they need in their home.

So what will you be getting with your gift cards at your local Albertsons and safeway? If you are not sure if their is a Albertsons or Safeway near you? You are able to click here to find one near you.  We also have a great giveaway you can enter below! Good luck everyone.

Christmas Tree Ornament Wooden Slice with Date

The last 9 years I have always had a fake Christmas tree. We have moved with that tree all over country and along way it started losing pine needles. Last year was our first year that we decided to get a real Christmas tree and I was on the fence about it. However, have you see much more expensive fake Christmas tree have gotten?  It seemed a real one might be a better idea for us and with it the idea of Christmas Tree Ornament wooden slice was born. Or should I say tradition.

Getting the Christmas tree ornament wooden slice did not cross my mind till after Christmas. We cut the slice once we removed the tree and it made a huge mess when we lay it down to cut the tree. I had a mess of dry pine needles all over my carpet and was still finding then a few days later. However, this year we asked the associate at home depot to cut a little extra slice from the end to be our Christmas tree ornament slice with date. The associate was very friendly and glad to cut it for us.

I much preferred cutting it before we put the tree up is because the wood is soft and easier to hammer into. We used screw hooks for the top of the Christmas tree ornament slice date since the slice can be heavy.

I used Tim Holtz Idea-ology mini numerals to place in front of the wooden slice. You can find them at any craft store near you.

I dated last year Christmas tree ornament slice with the Tim Holtz idea-ology mini numerals with 2015 and for this year 2016. I used tiny nails that you can find at any hardware store. All you really need to do is hammer them in and you are done!

I am so happy how they came out! I also glad how fast they are to make because when you have three little kiddos with so much energetic energy, I only have time for fast and easy.

Halloween Coffins Party Invitations

Halloween is the perfect time to send out my Halloween coffins party invitations. I always want to have a Halloween party however, it can be daunting and time consuming and I always seem to go against it. The only thing is I always seem to do invitations. I just love sharing a little piece of Halloween spirit with all my friends.

tim holtz, ranger, Halloween invitations, halloween invitations coffins, invitations, halloween glass, diy, oddities, wicked, skulls,

Every year I see these unstained/unpainted coffins and I always seem to gravitate and  to them and could never find the right idea to use them. Halloween invitation coffins is the perfect gift to give to all my friends this Halloween. Since the the coffins are raw,  I used acrylic paint to paint them black. As well as I stained few with red mahogany stain.

Needed to make small shelves inside the coffins with thick chipboard. Measured the chipboard which I cut then painted black with acrylic. I had to measure each coffin since each one is slightly different from the next.

The stained coffins I actually used the stain on the chipboard. You might want to use some gloves when using the stain because it will get on your fingers. Chipboard will suck up the stain very well.

tim holtz, ranger, Halloween invitations, halloween invitations coffins, invitations, halloween glass, diy, oddities, wicked, skulls,

The fun part for me is decorating the inside of each coffin. I used a variety of trinkets to decorate each one. I used Tim Holtz glass bottles, glass beads for flowers vases, Tim Holtz frames, hot glue, inks, Tim Holtz wish bones, and Tim Holtz metal skulls. Each coffins was decorated differenly.  Inside of each of the vials I used colored ink.

tim holtz, ranger, Halloween invitations, halloween invitations coffins, invitations, halloween glass, diy, oddities, wicked, skulls,

I am so happy on how they came out. Used Tim Holtz frames and paper for the picture frame of the witch. Hot glued all the vials to the shelves. Also used the hot glue to make messy spider webs. As you can imagine I burn my finger tips a few times.

Halloween coffins party invitations, tim holtz, ranger, Halloween invitations, halloween invitations coffins, invitations, halloween glass, diy, oddities, wicked, skulls,

In some of the coffins I actually used scrapbook paper to cover the inside with mod podge as well as the shelves. It was a messy job but it was worth it. I hot glued all the shelves into each Halloween coffins party invitations.  On this particular coffin I used a resin frame with Tim Holtz mirror paper. I do believe the spider web looks much better on this Halloween coffins party invitation. The skull is from real bone and then stained. I got the skull from one of my visits to the local Gem Faire.

As you can see with the black coffins I used crackled paint to make the paint look weathered on top of each coffin.

halloween coffins party invitations, tim holtz, ranger, Halloween invitations, halloween invitations coffins, invitations, halloween glass, diy, oddities, wicked, skulls,

I wanted to add spider web embossing to the coffins.

halloween coffins party invitations, tim holtz, ranger, Halloween invitations, halloween invitations coffins, invitations, halloween glass, diy, oddities, wicked, skulls,

I used the Tim Holtz embossing ink with silver embossing powder.

halloween coffins party invitations, tim holtz, ranger, Halloween invitations, halloween invitations coffins, invitations, halloween glass, diy, oddities, wicked, skulls,

First stamp the spider stamp once your press it unto the embossing ink to the coffin. Followed by pouring some embossing powder unto the coffins to cover where you stamped the spider web. Remove any access unto a piece of paper to pour back into the bottle.

You can take your heat tool and go over the embossing powder, make sure you don’t over heat it and burn it. Now you are almost done.

halloween coffins party invitations, tim holtz, ranger, Halloween invitations, halloween invitations coffins, invitations, halloween glass, diy, oddities, wicked, skulls,

I could not stop there to make my final mark, I added a seal to each coffin on the side.  Noticed that the seal became hard to break when trying to open the coffin. so I had to slice through it myself before sending them out.

I hope my friends all love it!
