Recycle Baby Food Jars into Christmas Snow Globes Ornaments

I have a very large collection of baby food jars from when my son was a baby and I have been logging them around for the past year and half all over the state. Guess what?! I finally found one good use for them. If you want to recycle your baby food jars then did you know you can make them into Christmas snow globe ornaments. I love mason jars but they are way to big and heavy to be used on my tree so recycling your baby food jars is the best thing. Even if you don’t have small children at home you can buy a couple jars for less then dollar.

So go into your pantry or run to the store and get baby food in glass jars.

Now if you don’t have any kids then you have choice to eat the baby food or throw it out, hehe. I made a small hole with a drill bit on the lids. I colored the lids red with acrylic paint.

While the lids are drying. I took the jars and got a couple of tiny trees and a reindeer on one if the jars. I used crazy glue to the bottom of each tree and used long twisiers to place them inside the jar.

I added the fake snow and we are almost done! I got ribbon from Hobby lobby and tied it to the lids.

Felt Ninja Turtle Christmas Ornaments

I have kid’s craft idea for you, with felt of course! My son loves Ninja Turtles and apparently every boy goes through this stage in their life. My hubby was the same as a child and my little brother too. Its funny to think that no matter what generation you are Ninja Turtles was part of it. My mother in law sent me my hubby felt dinoours Christmas Ornaments that he did as a child and I thought I would continue the tradition with making some felt character Christmas ornament.
My son was so excited to make Ninja Turtle felt Christmas Ornaments  for this holiday season.  My little boy was so excited to find out that we where going to do Ninja Turtles that he wanted to leave right there and then and go out to the store to get all the colors of felt at the store. If your son is as excited about it as mine was, then here are a few thing you will need…

1. Felt in green, purple, red, black, orange, blue, white
2. Needle and thread or yarn
3. glue
4. batting
The first thing I did was free hand a shape of a Ninja Turtle head. You can also get a picture online of a Ninja turtle and print it out and trace it on the felt.

Once I free handed it with marker I cut the felt shape heads. I did the same with the mask, the eyes and mouth. It does not have to be perfect my son was so excited he did not care what color it was or shape. Make sure to also cut a back piece of the head of you felt Christmas ornaments.

My son wanted the Ninja Turtles to have their tongues sticking out so I just cut a small piece of red felt to make it look like it. He had a blast gluing everything together but the problem was that he wanted to rip it apart once he was done to do it all over again, silly boy. The glue won’t hold forever so once he had his fun you can sew the piece of the green felt.

Once all pieces are glued on you will need to make sure you have made an extra piece of the head of the ninja turtle ornament for the back to be able to stuff it with batting. I used yarn to sew the two pieces together. You can also use a sewing machine while they sleep.

I left a little opening to stuff the batting.

Once you get your felt ninja turtle Christmas ornament stuffed with batting just finish sewing it and its all done.
Now you have your every own Ninja Turtle Ornaments and the best part if you get to do all four!

I learned with my son that I need to have everything prepared a head of time because he is not very patient while I cut everything for him, so you might need to get the little elf to cut them a few days in advance or the night before like me.

Happy Holidays
