If you have a little boy in home like I do then you probably went to see Big Hero 6 from Disney. If no them your should definitely see it really soon. Its a very good movie and of course what kiddo does not like superheros like Baymax. The story line at the beginning is very touching and pulled at my heart strings a little bit. I went ahead and decided to make this years handmade ornaments with Baymax. I try to every year to make an ornament with my kiddos. Last year we made felt ninja turtle ornaments.
The ornament did not take much time to do and it was super easy and fun for my little kiddo to do. The first things you will need it a glass clear ornament or plastic, fake snow and a sharpie in black.
I took the fake fluffy snow and stuffed it into the ornament. I used a chop stick to push it down. You can also use a stick or anything thin enough to fit, hey you can even use a crochet needle.
Then I went a head and used the sharpie to make the eyes. The face of Baymax is pretty simple to do since its only two dots and a line.
Ta-da! Now you have your own Baymax Christmas ornament.
You can never have enough Christmas Decorations. I wanted a chalkboard count down so the kiddos can see how many more days are left to Christmas. I have my little monster asking me every night if tomorrow is Christmas? hehe He can be so cute. I have to explaining to him that its not quite here yet. I was hopping watching curious George Christmas would help him understand but he keeps asking if if goes to sleep tomorrow will be Christmas. I guess eventually it will be. I can’t wait to see his little face when it finally is Christmas.
I used a wooden reindeer from Michael’s which I had used from a previous crafts which was the stencil reindeer. I instead of stenciling I use chalkboard paint.
I then attached a very cute Christmas mas ribbon bow. The ribbon was from last season. I just love Christmas ribbon. I don’t really use it except during Christmas time. I attached my Christmas reindeer chalkboard countdown calendar to a piece of wood. The wood I sealed before attached a tack to it and hung the chalkboard reindeer. I can’t believe how versatile the little wooden reindeer can be. I think I might do a couple more thing with them. They are a fast and cheap craft. We all do love those.
You can also see what else I did with my other stencil wooden reindeer here.
If you want a fast and easy way to decorate around the house think about maybe having bottle brush trees. They are so cute!! I just can’t get enough of them and I can’t stop myself from buying them when ever I see them. I go to every retail store looking for them and I get very disappointed when they don’t have them. However, I did find a few at world market and they look so cute that I could not help myself. I Also got a few smaller ones from last year that I use to decorate my tea cups. I got the tea cups at anthropology.
I grabbed some fake snow and place it inside the tea cups and placed my little bottle brush trees in them and on top of them.
You can also make your very own colored bottle brush trees if you want to. You can find craft bottle brush tree at your local craft store they are by Ranger Tim Holtz. He made them so that you can die them in any color you want. They can by single package or six on a pack of bottle brush tree crafts. I have few of them but I was so scare on coloring them. However, I did take the plunge finally and they came out so cute. I decided to do a candy cane tree and just focus on the painting the red on the tree.
I used tape to cover where I did not want the paint to go and use distress paint with water. I spray a couple of coats to get it a little dark. I used berry distress refill stain.
Now I have different kinds of bottle brush tree crafts for this holiday season.
