Grinch Embroidery Ornament

I am obsessed with the Grinch this Christmas and I wanted to add more Grinch to my Christmas tree. I thought another way I could do that was to is to embroider a Grinch on a hoop. I don’t do a lot of embroidery since I am a beginner but hey why not, right?

The first thing I did was print out a Grinch image which I used to trace it with embroidery paper. The paper will leave a blue stencil on the fabric. I used white fabric to do the Grinch embroidery ornament with wooden hoop. You can find most all of these material at any craft store, I did my shopping at Joann’s.

Now its time to to do the Grinch embroidery with a light green embroidery thread. I just followed the stencil.

Once the Grinch was completed I colored the hoop with red sharpie. It might have been a better idea to color the hoop before but I was so excited to begin that I just skipped that part. Then I attached red tinsel around the hoop. The tinsel is from Tim Holtz holiday crafts. You can also find them at the craft store in his section. I just love everything Tim Holtz I have a stash in my closet that would last me a life time. Just don’t tell the hubby! hehe

I also hot glued the back so it would not stick out of hoop.

It is now complete, now you have your every own Grinch embroidery ornament for this holiday season. It looks great with my plaid tree and other Grinch Glass ornament I have done.

Mod Podge Deer Glitter Glasses

It has been the year of the deer. Everywhere you look you have deer decor and why not bring it into my kitchen? I decided to make my mod podge deer glitter glasses with gold glass glitter. I wanted something that would stand out from my cabinet.

I went a head and got my glasses from Target and they where only a $1! I got four and are perfect for the holiday season.

I washed the glasses and then used my cameo silhouette to cut out a stencil of a deer silhouette. I used contact paper to use as a stencil because its cheaper than using vinyl. I applied the a thick coat of mod podge to the glass with the stencil.

Remove the contact paper once I applied the mod podge.

Now its time to apply the gold glitter glass. I got the gold glitter glass from Muster Seed Milk part site. She has the most amazing inspiration and antiques for sale.

After I applied the glitter I let it set for 24 hours. You probably don’t need to let it set for so long but I wanted to make sure the glitter would not come off right away when I was going to seal it.

When it came time to seal my mod podge deer glitter glasses I used the mod podge because its the only thing from my research that would allow the glasses to be drinkable. However, the glasses need to be handwashed to you don’t lose the glitter and mod podge is water soluble.

Here it is my deer glasses ready to be shared with friends and family this holiday season. I added my family recipe Puertorican coquito which we make every Thanksgiving to drink during the holidays and Christmas. I just love sitting by the tree at night and having a glass.

Christmas Home Decor

Decorating for Christmas is so much fun in my mind. I do find when asking my friends about decorating for Christmas they do not enjoy it due to their parent forcing them to decorate when they where children and now they hardly decorate as adult. At times I think I am a little crazy because my home looks like Christmas just threw up all over it, haha. I do hope I don’t scare my children and they won’t decorate for Christmas because as my hubby says it make the home seem warm and homier. Here is my Christmas home decor this holiday season.

If you have been with me for awhile you know that I change the ribbon of my tree every year. I just love changing thing around every year and my add and take away things because my taste in decor changes with time. However, this year I let my hubby pick the ribbon. I usually have theme in color each year but my hubby really wanted a color tree this year and in doing so he chose the ribbon. Imagine my surprise when he picked a plaid ribbon! I am in love with plaid this year and just want to have everything that is plaid. I even purchased a plaid snowflake.

I also used my tv stand to make a winter wonderland with my bottle brush trees and a tiny house! I used furry fabric to act as snow. It will be the only snow I will see here in Cali.

I need a place to hold my stocking because we all need to have stockings which is one of my hubby traditions. I took all the crates which I have all over my apartment and put them against the wall and made cute little scenes in each. In one of them I have my little Grinch Christmas tree.

I even wrapped my cabinets with ribbon and a bow and who can forget my cute reindeer watching me cook.

My little man love helping me decorate which make me hope that he will continue the tradition to decorate in his home one day.

Grinch Christmas Tree

Every Christmas the first movie I see is the Grinch and not just any Grinch movie but the Jim Carey version. I just love and can’t wait to see it very year. I decide to use my mini Christmas tree which I got at target dollar bin and turn it into a Grinch Christmas tree! Of course I am not going this challenge alone but I a joined by other bloggers on this transformation of mini dollar trees.

After I got my target mini tree in the dollar bin I headed over to to my craft store and got Christmas tree branches to wrap around the Christmas tree. I got two packs to make it fuller.

I then wrapped mini Christmas tree lights around the Grinch Christmas tree. I tried to hide the light between the branches.

I then started to hang my ornaments. You can’t go wrong in which way you hang your ornaments. I used red and green mini ornaments. I also got a Christmas tree skirt at target. It has a knitting pattern in which fits perfectly with the Grinch theme.

Christmas Gift Bags Idea

We all know that we use Christmas gift bags to hold special gifts for our families and friends however, did you every think of using Christmas gift bags for anything else. I went shopping at Target like I always do a couple of times a week and I found this cute Christmas bags in the dollar bin. They had all shapes and sizes. One in particular caught my eye and that was the chalkboard print gift bags. I grab a couple of different print of Christmas gift bags.

I went a head went to the frame section over at Target and found a couple of cheap frames to hold my Christmas gift bags.

When I got home I could not wait to place the chalkboard Christmas gift bag in the frame and frame it to my wall.

I after I place them on my wall I noticed that I wanted to remove the red ribbon from the Christmas gift bags and on some of them I would need to cut the bag in half to make the frame less bulky.

I tried a different ways to place the Christmas gift bags frames on my wall. Tell me which one do you prefer.

Christmas Chipboard Letters

I have been seeing a lot of crafts with chipboard letters and I decided to make my own for Christmas. However, when I went in search for my letters it was so hard to find and I went looking specific in late October! I guess I was not the only one thinking of Christmas before Halloween was over. I did finally find them after a couple of stores. Here are my Christmas chipboard letters.

After my hunt for the chipboard letter I cut off one side. I use an X-acto knife for the removal.

Once that was done I colored the chipboard letters with red acrylic paint. After it was dry I went and purchase and garland which I cut up to make fit inside the chipboard letters. Just keep in mind that it will make a little mess when you cut the garland.

I purchased berries and tree cones as well and added it to add that extra pop of color and make it stand out more. I did hot glue some parts of the garland on to the chipboard to make sure if did not just fall off the wall when I put it up.

Once you have done all those thing then you are done! I enjoy seeing a pick-boo of read and the glittery berries I used. A place it up on my wall to remember to be joyous this season and be thankful.

Grinch Ornaments

I have had my silhouette for a while now but I have not use it very often due to having to take it out of the closet and setting up and then reviewing YouTube video to remember how to use the file and it has become a huge ordeal but I have decided to use it more often this holiday season so we will see how it goes.

I do love watching he Grinch during the holiday season this year is not different, as write this post I am listing to the soundtrack. Its does get me in the mood fast and I made my Grinch ornaments to match my mood.

The first thing I did was coat the inside of the glass ornament with alcohol. If you coat the inside then it will help the glitter stick to the glass ornament.

I then added a coat of Pledge floor cleaner drain it in a cup and added the fabulous green glitter!

I let it dry for 24 hours to make sure the glitter would not come off the ornament.

Now the fun part begins I use my silhouette to cut black vinyl. I used contact paper to transfer the image to the Grinch ornaments. I repeated the same thing to a few more ornament and it looks fantastic.

Christmas Reindeer Chalkboard

You can never have enough Christmas Decorations. I wanted a chalkboard count down so the kiddos can see how many more days are left to Christmas. I have my little monster asking me every night if tomorrow is Christmas? hehe He can be so cute. I have to explaining to him that its not quite here yet. I was hopping watching curious George Christmas would help him understand but he keeps asking if if goes to sleep tomorrow will be Christmas. I guess eventually it will be. I can’t wait to see his little face when it finally is Christmas.

I used a wooden reindeer from Michael’s which I had used from a previous crafts which was the stencil reindeer. I instead of stenciling I use chalkboard paint.

I then attached a very cute Christmas mas ribbon bow. The ribbon was from last season. I just love Christmas ribbon. I don’t really use it except during Christmas time. I attached my Christmas reindeer chalkboard countdown calendar to a piece of wood. The wood I sealed before attached a tack to it and hung the chalkboard reindeer. I can’t believe how versatile the little wooden reindeer can be. I think I might do a couple more thing with them. They are a fast and cheap craft. We all do love those.

Bottle Brush Tree Crafts

If you want a fast and easy way to decorate around the house think about maybe having bottle brush trees. They are so cute!! I just can’t get enough of them and I can’t stop myself from buying them when ever I see them. I go to every retail store looking for them and I get very disappointed when they don’t have them. However, I did find a few at world market and they look so cute that I could not help myself. I Also got a few smaller ones from last year that I use to decorate my tea cups. I got the tea cups at anthropology.

I grabbed some fake snow and place it inside the tea cups and placed my little bottle brush trees in them and on top of them.

You can also make your very own colored bottle brush trees if you want to. You can find craft bottle brush tree at your local craft store they are by Ranger Tim Holtz. He made them so that you can die them in any color you want. They can by single package or six on a pack of bottle brush tree crafts. I have few of them but I was so scare on coloring them. However, I did take the plunge finally and they came out so cute. I decided to do a candy cane tree and just focus on the painting the red on the tree.

I used tape to cover where I did not want the paint to go and use distress paint with water. I spray a couple of coats to get it a little dark. I used berry distress refill stain.

Now I have different kinds of bottle brush tree crafts for this holiday season.

Stencil Reindeer

I will say it again I just love reindeer decor. I can’t wait to go full on Christmas home decor! My hubby seems to be excited about me decorating for the holiday season. I decided to start a little early this year and do a stencil reindeer which I found at Michael’s ! Just love it and I need to make it pop and I remembered that I had this awesome wooden stencil from Plaid Mod Podge. It would add that extra wood feel to the wooden reindeer.

I first wanted to age the wood a little bit and I stained it.

I went ahead and placed the stencil on the wooden reindeer and went over it with red acrylic paint.

Once it was all dried I sealed it.

I still found that the my little reindeer needed something else to make it stand out . I went back to michael’s and I got some leaves and berries to add some dimensional touch to it.

I also did add a burlap bow to the top of the head for the wooden reindeer.

I did two different stenciled reindeer and I just so excited how they came out! I kind of feel like going back and buys a few more! I just wish I can give them out as gifts but I don’t know anyone who would enjoy them as much as me as you guys maybe. Who knows I might just do a giveaway on my instagram.
