Christmas Chipboard Letters

I have been seeing a lot of crafts with chipboard letters and I decided to make my own for Christmas. However, when I went in search for my letters it was so hard to find and I went looking specific in late October! I guess I was not the only one thinking of Christmas before Halloween was over. I did finally find them after a couple of stores. Here are my Christmas chipboard letters.

After my hunt for the chipboard letter I cut off one side. I use an X-acto knife for the removal.

Once that was done I colored the chipboard letters with red acrylic paint. After it was dry I went and purchase and garland which I cut up to make fit inside the chipboard letters. Just keep in mind that it will make a little mess when you cut the garland.

I purchased berries and tree cones as well and added it to add that extra pop of color and make it stand out more. I did hot glue some parts of the garland on to the chipboard to make sure if did not just fall off the wall when I put it up.

Once you have done all those thing then you are done! I enjoy seeing a pick-boo of read and the glittery berries I used. A place it up on my wall to remember to be joyous this season and be thankful.

Grinch Ornaments

I have had my silhouette for a while now but I have not use it very often due to having to take it out of the closet and setting up and then reviewing YouTube video to remember how to use the file and it has become a huge ordeal but I have decided to use it more often this holiday season so we will see how it goes.

I do love watching he Grinch during the holiday season this year is not different, as write this post I am listing to the soundtrack. Its does get me in the mood fast and I made my Grinch ornaments to match my mood.

The first thing I did was coat the inside of the glass ornament with alcohol. If you coat the inside then it will help the glitter stick to the glass ornament.

I then added a coat of Pledge floor cleaner drain it in a cup and added the fabulous green glitter!

I let it dry for 24 hours to make sure the glitter would not come off the ornament.

Now the fun part begins I use my silhouette to cut black vinyl. I used contact paper to transfer the image to the Grinch ornaments. I repeated the same thing to a few more ornament and it looks fantastic.

Bottle Brush Tree Crafts

If you want a fast and easy way to decorate around the house think about maybe having bottle brush trees. They are so cute!! I just can’t get enough of them and I can’t stop myself from buying them when ever I see them. I go to every retail store looking for them and I get very disappointed when they don’t have them. However, I did find a few at world market and they look so cute that I could not help myself. I Also got a few smaller ones from last year that I use to decorate my tea cups. I got the tea cups at anthropology.

I grabbed some fake snow and place it inside the tea cups and placed my little bottle brush trees in them and on top of them.

You can also make your very own colored bottle brush trees if you want to. You can find craft bottle brush tree at your local craft store they are by Ranger Tim Holtz. He made them so that you can die them in any color you want. They can by single package or six on a pack of bottle brush tree crafts. I have few of them but I was so scare on coloring them. However, I did take the plunge finally and they came out so cute. I decided to do a candy cane tree and just focus on the painting the red on the tree.

I used tape to cover where I did not want the paint to go and use distress paint with water. I spray a couple of coats to get it a little dark. I used berry distress refill stain.

Now I have different kinds of bottle brush tree crafts for this holiday season.

Reindeer Embroidery Pattern

It can’t be Christmas with out a few key things, Christmas tree, lights and reindeer! I just enjoy decorating with reindeer. I really want to add them to my decor this year for the holidays. I see reindeer at target in every form. I’ve purchased a snow globe of a reindeer in October. I do believe I can have that globe out all year around on my nightstand. They even had a reindeer head with gold tip antlers but I did not get it which I am regretting a little bit. However, I did find a fun an easy way to add reindeer to my Christmas tree with this little hoop ornament. You can also place them on your wall in all sizes!

I first went and got my wooden hoop which I got at my local craft store and placed some felt in the hoop. I then got my silhouette and purchased a a baby reindeer pattern which I cut the head off. I made a couple of different sizes to fit my hoop.

I then used glossy accents glue and traced the patterned with it. The glue stays wet for a little bit you have some wiggle room to work the entire pattern before you have to sprinkle the glitter. I used a dark brown glitter for the reindeer.

I then got myself some red embroidery thread to add the red nose.

You are almost done! I decided to painted the wooden hoop with a red sharpie. You can also stain the hoop. Now you can either hang them on the Christmas tree or on your wall. You have now a beautiful reindeer embroidery pattern than you can use glitter if you can’t really embroider.

Halloween Coasters

I love, love, love Target dollar bin! I can always find something that I think I can’t live without. As you can imagine this time was no different. Target is always full of surprises. At first when I hear everyone talking about how wonderful Target is, I did not know why? Until I went a couple of times and just can’t get enough. Expect my wallet does not like it very much, so I have to limit my target trips because I always seem to find something I must have because I never knew how I lived without it before. Especially for kiddo clothes.

I found this cute Halloween felt garland. I found them as pumpkins and bats. I know I did not want to use them as garland and then the idea of making them into Halloween coasters!

All you will really need is thread to attach them together. I decided to do three at a time to make a coaster. I now have a set of two bat coasters and pumpkins ready to use and show off to friends and family.

I wonder what I will find next week at the Target dollar bin. Are you a Target dollar bin addict too?

Using garland and ornaments to decorate your windows this Christmas

I have a small apartment and every space is real estate! I looked at my plain old windows which I have to still buy curtains for and they needed a little help with adding holiday cheer to my home. As I do every holiday season I take everything out from its bins and try to figure out what I have to work with! I found these garland beauties I had purchased last year and thought hey would look fantastic over my windows this Christmas.

I have to say it was the simplest thing to do. I just used a long dowel and wrapped the garland around it.

After wrapping the garland around the dowel I still had a little extra room at the end, so I added snowflakes. I also added hanging snowflakes from the garland to make it look like its snowing. I place a single ornament mix in with the ornaments.

I used command strips hooks to hold the dowels in place. Now to find some curtains!

Halloween Ribbon Wreath

I have been moving a lot for the last couple of year and as you can imagine a lot of things don’t happen to make it during all does moves. I was going through all my Halloween decor and I come to find out that don’t have as many as I thought and what I do have has gotten damaged with time. My very first Halloween wreath was completely demolished and it needed a face lift! So I went to work.

I had made Halloween ribbons in a previous tutorial click here to see it which I decided to use on this wreath.

Here is my destroyed Halloween wreath, this is what happens when you don’t store your wreaths well. But it was time to update it.

Of course no project can be complete without using hot glue!

Ribbon wooden letters

On the third day of Christmas My True Love gave to me…Three Ribbon letter!! (more like five but just play along)

I am starting to want to place my last name everywhere around my home. Its weird but I feel very proud to have it up on my walls. My hubby keeps telling me that soon we will be running out of wall space. So I started looking at the ceiling lately

The plans I have that he has no clue about, oh how evil a wife I am.

But enough of my hubby and on to my tutorial!

Lets begin with the materials:

1. Wood stainer

2. Wooden letters

3.Ribbon

4.Stapler

Easy enough right.

First you will need to stain the wood the color you desire. However, keep in mind to do this in warm weather. I finished staining them just as a cold spell came in and they took forever to dry. They also smell really bad because of it. I stained them about 3 to 4 times. It all depends how dark you would like the wood to look.

Once the wood has dried you would want to choose your ribbon. I decided to use Christmas colors red and white for every other letter. When Christmas is done I can just change the ribbon to a different color. Each ribbon is about 12 inches long.

I folded the ribbon in half before I stapled it to the wood.

The letter N was a funky letter to staple. I had to staple each end of the ribbon to the top of the letter.

The end result are letters that I can hang from anything. I can add a rod and put it up or just nail them to the wall.

Picture Perfect Saturday Christmas Time

I just love decorating for Christmas! I always notice that Christmas seems to bring the worst in people. However, I actually saw some kindness this past week. I was coming into hobby lobby and I over heard a woman ask her daughter for five dollars. The daughter stated that she did not have the money. The woman standing right behind me gave her the five dollars. She stated that it was only five dollars and it was no big deal. Now that’s what I call the Christmas spirit.

Since I live in Dallas, Texas we wont be getting much snow, if any at all. I decided to purchase snowflakes at hobby lobby and hang them from my ceiling. They look so beautiful, especially when the heater turns on and they all sway back and forth. In this picture you can almost believe that its snowing.

Everything looks that much more beautiful when the Christmas tree is turned on. I just like to sit in front of my tree and enjoy the lights and remember everything I am thankful for.
