California-Conference

SoCal Blogger Conference & Halloween Tag

Do I have a treat for you today!  I am going to talk about the SoCal blogger conference I attended this past weekend and my halloween tags. Vivienne from The V spot and Bev from Flamingo Toes were the great hosts of this event.
The SoCal conference was here in California and was an event where local bloggers could meet other fellow bloggers. Their were so many different kind of bloggers at the convention and everyone was super sweet.
I had the great pleasure of spending the day with Dinah from DIY Inspired & Jen from Something Turquoise. The first part of the day we spent it going to shops who help sponsor the event. Each shop had little treats waiting for us. I just loved stopping by all the antique shops!!
All things I got to see!!! One of my favorite things that I wish I had was this cute bird cage with a chandelier in it.
Who would not want to own an antique fan?! Oh by the way its also a lamp.

One of the many antique store that I went to had this beautiful display.

However, my most favorite thing I found while exploring the many antique stores was finding this creepy painting! I would so want to have this painting in my room. Does that make me a little crazy? hehe.

Oh and I also found this creepy doll that I would not want to have in my home but it was great to look at!
Of course I could not just go into antique stores and not buy something?
I purchased a test tube holder, Halloween inspired jewelry, ribbon and a monocle.
The one of other great thing about going to the blogger conference was the swag I got!! Look at the amount of stuff I got to drag home.
Just in case you though it could not get any better, I also got to meet Mark Montano!!!! I got the pleasure to sit next to him most of the night and talk about life and crafts and it gets a lot better we all got an advance copy of his new book The Big Ass Book of Bling.
Yep, that’s Mark and me at the blogger dinner. He was so down to earth and very friendly. I was so happy to attend the conference and I hope to make it next year.
Now for the Halloween Tags. I though I was all caught up but I forgot Halloween tag #22.

Halloween Tag #23.

I hope you are all liking what you see.

Weekend Halloween Tags!

Are you ready for some Halloween tags?
I had a super busy weekend that I just can’t wait to share with you all tomorrow! I know how can I keep you all in suspense for a whole day?  However,  I must and I am sorry. I will make it up to you by showing you three wonderful Halloween tags!
Halloween tag # 19 is about what might hide behind your close doors.

I hope you are not scared of spiders.

My Dies de Los Muerto Halloween tag came from an use iron on transfer that I used on a pillow. I did not want to throw it away because it was so cute. I decided to make it into a tag. The iron on transfer is from the cratfy chica found at Michaels.

Last but not least is my Halloween tag #21. I was inspired by this lovely ribbon I got at my SoCal conference. I got it from this super cute little shop that I just loved everything she had in her store.
I hope I gave you all some inspiration for some Halloween tags! Come and join me tomorrow to find out more about the SoCal blogger conference and a tag.

Halloween Tags round up!

I’ve been super busy the last couple of days and I was not able to post. However, I have been keeping up with my tags! Here is Halloween tag #17 and the inspiration was just pumpkin picking.
I hope to go pumpkin picking this weekend with our little monster. He had so much fun last year and I am so looking forward to it this year.
My next Halloween tag is number 18 and their is a saying “the eyes are the window to the soul.” I do truly believe that because I can always tell if someone is laying by they they look at me.

I just loved how this tag turn out, it took me all day to make but I am satisfied with it.
Now for the grand finally!
My devlish tag was inspired by the wings dies from Tim Holtz new line.
I have also done a video tutorial on my Boo tag! Come and take a look.
I hope you are all having a great day and thank you so much for stopping by!

Day 15 and 16 Halloween Tags

Happy Tuesday!
Its a little late but I finally finished day 15 Halloween tag. My creativity is slowing down and I just need to walk away for a while to be able figure out what I want to do.

Day 16 Halloween tag is inspired by Edgar Allen Poe “nevermore.” I just feel in love with the lace on top and I think it just made everything come together!

Thank you for stopping by!

Book Folding Wednesday

I just love to do book folding or altered book! My very first post on my blog was for book folding and its one my most popular post. During my move all of my altered books where damaged. The movers did not do a great job in backing them, so I decided to make new one!! The altered book kind of reminds me of an old  roller decks.

This is a very simple book folding technique. First you can use any kind of book you would like. I used an old trade paper back,  I no longer wanted. Recycling books is way better than throwing them away and if you don’t have any books to recycle then they are really cheap to purchase at a thrift store or book store. The book I used has about 300 pages. It took about an hour to get it done. Usually when I book fold I just watch my favorite TV show and fold like crazy to get it done before the hour is done.
I removed the cover of the book.
Then I cut the pages through the center of the book. The great thing about this project is that you don’t spend a lot of money on materials.
You would want to fold the corner of page down toward the bottom center of the book to make a triangle.
Do the same thing to the opposite page, continue until you are done with both ends of the book.
Ta-Da!
Its that simple to do! You can lay book flat and place cards in it or stand it up and make it look like an hour glass. The possibilities are endless.
Till Later…
