Halloween Coasters

I love, love, love Target dollar bin! I can always find something that I think I can’t live without. As you can imagine this time was no different. Target is always full of surprises. At first when I hear everyone talking about how wonderful Target is, I did not know why? Until I went a couple of times and just can’t get enough. Expect my wallet does not like it very much, so I have to limit my target trips because I always seem to find something I must have because I never knew how I lived without it before. Especially for kiddo clothes.

I found this cute Halloween felt garland. I found them as pumpkins and bats. I know I did not want to use them as garland and then the idea of making them into Halloween coasters!

All you will really need is thread to attach them together. I decided to do three at a time to make a coaster. I now have a set of two bat coasters and pumpkins ready to use and show off to friends and family.

I wonder what I will find next week at the Target dollar bin. Are you a Target dollar bin addict too?

Chalkboard World Globe

I am excited about finding this world globe at Costco! I found it right before school started and its was defiantly a deal. I got it for $27 which is cheap due to world globe being so popular and it super hard to find one for a good deal. I just had to grab it and run. My hubby was not happy that I got it and but it looks so cute on my home now my chalkboard world globe.

Chalkboard painting is super easy to do and it does not take a lot of work. Just good weather and some time out of your day.

I used black chalkboard paint and sprayed the entire globe about 3 coats of chalkboard.

Once it what dried I took chalk and went over the indentation of the map with the chalk. The globe that I purchased had the land masses raised up which made it easy to go over it with chalk.

Now i can write Boo or Happy Holidays! You can’t go wrong with a globe. I was so happy I did get it because I did try to purchase a globe that was smaller and broken at a retailer and they only discounted it for 4 dollars! So the total came to $20 and it was so not worth it! Retailers are really not the best place to get them all the time. Here it is your chalkboard world globe.

Disney Mason Jar

I have recently become a huge Disneyland fan. I have never being to Disney as a child only as an adult and I just love it! I keep spoiling my kiddos by going at least twice a week. Now that we live in Cali we got an annual pass. I remember my hubby face when he saw how much the annual passes were and told me that it better be worth it. Guess what I’ve gone 23 times in the last 29 days! How I manage that?! I really don’t know. I just know that I love going and experiencing something new every time. As you can imagine I have a lot of keepsakes and plenty of mason jars just laying around the house. I decided to make my own little Disney mason jar keepsake.

You will not need a lot to make this Disney mason jar keepsake. As you can guess you will need a mason jar with a large mouth.

I did spray paint the lid gold. You won’t need the inside lip of the mason jar once you get your first button from Disneyland. I got the Disney pin the first time we went Disney which just happens to fit the top of mason jar.

I went ahead and added all the wonderful things we found at Disney. I place the different maps from each location. My kiddos got some gold doubloons over at Disney Junior theater and paper strings. I even made a mason jar just for the pin button that are given out at Disneyland. I also painted the lid of the mason jar gold to match. Now I have two mason jar keepsakes for our Disneyland adventures.

Love Gold Stencil Sign

Gold has been on my mind a lot and I decide that I needed a lit bit of more gold in my apartment. I wanted to add inspirational word to my wall and Love came to mind. I started by going through my stash and figuring out what I had and trust me I have plenty to work with, maybe little to much my hubby would say. I got my love lettering back in February during valentine. I love shopping after the holiday to get the great deals on holiday crafts and decor. I found it in one of my craft store for $1. Now to get to work on my love gold stencil sign.

I got the wood also from the craft store for a couple of dollars.

I went to work on the wood with a Martha Stewart stencil and black spray paint. I just did a fast past with the black spray paint and let it dry.

I then went ahead and just spray painted the love letter in gold and set it aside to dry as well.

Once it was all dried I just got glued the gold love stencil sign to the wood and ta da!!

All finished. I have now a lovely sign above all the loves of my life. As you can see here from the previous craft I did with my cut it out frames which I also painted gold. I have my Men fishing and my little princess eating her first plum! How time passes us all by so fast.

Gold Frames

I had won a giveaway a while back for 4 cut it out frames. I could not decide what I wanted to do with them so they stayed untouched for almost a year. Until recently when I started to clean out my stash and decided that it was time to give my little frames a little life. I went ahead and went to work. I knew I wanted them to hold something special or better yet special people who we miss and who I love so dearly. Recently my family has lost a father and a grandfather called pop pop. He was the only grandfather my son had. My father is not a man who is part of our lives because he decided that when I was a child he did not want to be part of our lives. However, I was so happy that my father-in-law was going to be part of my son life. He was a good father to my husband and he stood for everything my father never did. My heart is sad due to the lost and the memories my son wont experience but I will have him present in my home. In his memory this is what I did.

I decided to paint the cut it out frames in gold. The painting went on smooth.

After the paint was dried I picked the pictures which reminded me most of all of Steve. Fishing!! He loved his fishing and he always wanted to take all the boys fishing. He even made a large pond in which he captured and released fish into it. Its a beautiful spot. He never got the opportunity to do it with his grandson but my hubby did take our son. I chose those pictures and one of my father in-law from a old fishing trip he had gone. Now I have three generation fishing. If I do say so myself they are pretty good at it.

I attache lures to the picture frames with hot glue.

Of course I do have my little princess who will also learn to fish as well and I hope to add her picture as well in a couple of years.

I also did a love sign which I used a wood pledge which I placed a stencil on top and spray painted in black. I will be showing the tutorial on that tomorrow!

I got the arrow from target which was an ugly yellow which was not going to do. I decided to spray painted it gold.

It makes me smile every time I pass by those pictures everyday.

Book Folding Tutorial

I though i would start book folding Wednesday and here is another book folding tutorial! Book folding can be as easy or as hard as you want to make it. I usually try to make the tutorial easy to follow and with out many instructions. You can always use the patterns I have and rework them and make something new. I always begin with marking the pages. I know you might think that if you do that then you would see the markings once you fold your pages. However, let me a sure you that you wont even notice the marked pages. I will suggest you use a pencil when marking your book.

I went I ahead and ripped the cover because it would be very hard to fold it. I then folded the first fold the first ten pages using the first line and the last line.

The second fold was the second line from the top and the bottom.

The third fold is the third line from the top and the bottom.

Now you have three different folds.

You continue the folds until you reach the end of the book. You can always do more than 10 pages if you want it to look fuller. I used a paperback book which had 531 pages. It usually takes me about an hour to finish this book folding pattern. I can’t do it in one sitting since it can be very mind numbing at times. Hope you enjoy it.

Green Burlap Summer Wreath

Summer might be ending for some but for me I can never have enough of it specially since I do live in California and it seems to be summer all the time. I wanted to make a green burlap summer wreath for my home to help add more green to my living room. I used one of my old wreath and recycled it for my green burlap summer wreath.

I was lucky enough to work with Floral Crafts last year and was given this bright green burlap and I decide to use them on my wreath.

I went ahead and wrapped the the foam wreath with the green burlap.

After I wrapped the wreath I went ahead and added the flowers.

I got the silk flowers from my local craft shops and then I wanted to add a cute little bird to my wreath. I added a glass globe and placed moss and a bird nest in it. I attached it to wreath with thread. I made a burlap bow with the reminder of the green burlap.

Mod Podge Collage Clay Craft

Mod Podge is coming up with the most interesting things I have seen in a while. I loved playing with the Mod Podge collage clay! Its super easy to use and does not dry fast. It also looks like acing on a cake. They have a tips I was tempted to lick it a couple of times however, do keep in mind the collage clay is not for eating but making your crafts look delectable! I was so excited to get to work on my DIY craft.

The first thing I did was get my hands on two glasses that I could use for my project. Then I used the strawberry pink collage clay and the star tip to apply it on the glass. I put a little pressure on the the bag pressed it on the glass. I applied it at the bottom of the glass.

I also use hot glue molds and used glitter glue sticks to make cute little around pearls. I wanted to add some bling to my now ice cream glasses and new style of thing is to Mod podge collage clay decoden! Plaid’s really know how to stay with trend.

Just add ice cream! Now we have cute little ice cream glasses made out of Mod Podge collage clay. I let the collage clay dry over night since some parts of the clay were a little thicker than others.

Throw blanket out of fabric

I have been noticing lately that my little kiddo has been bringing my hubby old raggedy blanket out with him every morning. Lately I have been thinking of making a throw blanket out of fabric since our apartment in the morning can be a little chilly and my kiddo like to curl up on the couch and read his books while mommy and daddy start our morning routine. It seems like out kiddos are morning people while my hubby and I are not so, I really don’t know how that happens. Maybe all children are morning people until they reach their teens I suppose, but that’s a story for another day.

I decided to make a through. I looked everywhere for a throw blanket that I would match my decor but nothing seemed to stand out to me and I decided to make my own. Do you want to know how to make a throw blanket out of fabric?

I took a little trip to the craft store and I found the perfect rustic dark fabric I wanted to use. Dark fabric seem to work best when you have little kiddos. I do have the rule were no food is allowed in the living room but something always seems to sneak by. I also got a soft fleece to go on the back of it of the fabric. I got reupholstering fabric which come in longer lengths.

I took it home and went to work on making a throw blanket. I stitched both fabric together and it was that simple.

Now I have a throw blanket that is stylish and kid friendly and don’t have to hide it every time I have company coming over for a visit. You know we all have that one thing that we always seem to hide right before company comes over. What is your little thing of shame? Hope you enjoyed my throw blanket.

Wood Slice Table

If you have been following me for a while you know by now that I love wood and incorporating it into my home any chance I can. I always seem to have a couple just laying around the apartment waiting for inspiration to hit. The hubby always seems to ask me what I am planing to do with them and I just shrug. He just shakes his head, hehe. As inspiration always does it just hit me out of know where while I was re-arranging my apartment as it always seem to happen when I get bored. I had a curio table made out of a letter press tray that I had made that I no longer had a place for in my living room. I decide to take it apart and use the letter press tray on my wall and remove the metal legs. So what was I to do with the metal legs? It came to me why not make a wood slice table? It would be small enough to fit anywhere in my home.

I went to work! I already had all the piece in my home! I just needed to seal the wood slice to make sure it does not get damage and I could have my wood slice table. I have a YouTube video showing the process of how to seal wood slices.

After the sealing is done, it time to go to work on just drilling the screws into the wood slice with the metal legs. I only used three of the legs in making my wood slice table. I made sure to space them out so that it would be stable enough to place thing on it.

Ta-Da! All done and a few easy steps. Now I have my ever own wood slice table.
