Upholstering a Stool

I don’t know if any of you have this problem but every time I buy something that its not 100% what I wanted I need to make it over some how. As you can imagine that is what happened with this stool. I needed a stool but I did not want to spend a fortune on a stool that I truly wanted. I got the stool home and I looked at it and I knew exactly what I wanted to do to it! Of course upholstering the stool was the best way to make it blend with my decor in my home. Here is a fast and easy way to upholstering a stool.

upholstering stool, reupholstering a stool. furniture DIY,

The first thing I did was remove the cushion from the stool and then remove the black fabric from the cushion.

upholstering stool, reupholstering a stool. furniture DIY,

After I left the original fabric on top intact since it was new and nothing was wrong with it. I placed the new fabric on top of it and began to staple away. I go the fabric from my local craft store.

Once I was done stapling I placed the black back fabric to its original place and then I attached the cushion back to the stool.

Its that simple and easy. The project did not take more than 30 minutes to do. Will you be doing this to your next stool? Maybe upholstering a stool is in your future.

If you can’t buy then why not make it your own! Hope you all enjoyed the my DIY stool. See you next time.

Halloween Pumpkin Mason Jar

Mason Jars are very popular and you can just about do anything with them! I decided to make another Halloween inspired mason jar crafts. I made a Halloween pumpkin mason jar. It only took me about 30 minutes to make and Halloween pumpkin mason jar craft and it gave me the perfect excuse to buy candy corn early.

The first thing I did was take the lid of the mason jar and hot glue batting to it, by doing this I make sure it does not go all over the place while trying to cover it with fabric. At times batting can be very slippery.

I then got pumpkin fabric to cover the batting which I also hot glued to the lid of the mason jar. I made sure to pull the fabric tight around the lid.

On the top of the mason jar I hot glue to little pieces of sticks. I do believe this helps makes it look more like a pumpkin.

Finally I got candy corn pumpkins and original candy corn and placed them inside the jar. Of course I did notice a few missing and a little boy grinning with mischief.

If you noticed I spray painted the lid gold. Gold is the color this year and I could not help but paint it gold which looks way better than the silver lid.

I hope to make many more Halloween inspired mason jar this season. What do you think I should make now?! Stay tune for more.

Halloween Skull Centerpiece

Halloween has officially come to my home. I have started my Halloween decorating and I just can’t wait to keep adding to the Halloween decor. I found a foam Halloween skull at my local craft store and I just knew what I wanted to do with it. A good thing that I already had silk flowers from last year that I could use for my project. I decide to make a Halloween skull centerpiece.

I first cut the stems of the silk purple flowers to make them smaller. I placed them on top of the skull. It was easy to press through the foam skull with the stems.

Once I arrange the flowers the way I wanted I went ahead and attached deer moss on the skull. I added a little bit to one of the eye sockets.

I also used a deer antler I had and placed it around the skull to add some stability to the foam skull. I do believe it would look great at t Halloween skull center piece. I already had a wooden cake stand I had previously made in which I covered with black netting. You can also glue on some leaves to cover the empty space between the stems. I did glued some deer moss to cover some of the stems.

You have a great Halloween skull centerpiece for your Halloween decor or party! I just love Halloween, it the only time of the year in which you can really let your imagination just fly and know one will look at you a little nuts.

Remembering the fallen

Today was a day to remember the fallen of 9/11 and all the heroes who were present on that day. I took a couple of moments in my day to remember and honor those lost on that day. They don’t lie when they say that you will remember what you were doing right before you hear horrible news that will change your life. Please take a moment of silence for 9/11.

Gold love sign,

Love Gold Stencil Sign

Gold has been on my mind a lot and I decide that I needed a lit bit of more gold in my apartment. I wanted to add inspirational word to my wall and Love came to mind. I started by going through my stash and figuring out what I had and trust me I have plenty to work with, maybe little to much my hubby would say. I got my love lettering back in February during valentine. I love shopping after the holiday to get the great deals on holiday crafts and decor. I found it in one of my craft store for $1. Now to get to work on my love gold stencil sign.

I got the wood also from the craft store for a couple of dollars.

I went to work on the wood with a Martha Stewart stencil and black spray paint. I just did a fast past with the black spray paint and let it dry.

I then went ahead and just spray painted the love letter in gold and set it aside to dry as well.

Once it was all dried I just got glued the gold love stencil sign to the wood and ta da!!

All finished. I have now a lovely sign above all the loves of my life. As you can see here from the previous craft I did with my cut it out frames which I also painted gold. I have my Men fishing and my little princess eating her first plum! How time passes us all by so fast.

Gold Frames

I had won a giveaway a while back for 4 cut it out frames. I could not decide what I wanted to do with them so they stayed untouched for almost a year. Until recently when I started to clean out my stash and decided that it was time to give my little frames a little life. I went ahead and went to work. I knew I wanted them to hold something special or better yet special people who we miss and who I love so dearly. Recently my family has lost a father and a grandfather called pop pop. He was the only grandfather my son had. My father is not a man who is part of our lives because he decided that when I was a child he did not want to be part of our lives. However, I was so happy that my father-in-law was going to be part of my son life. He was a good father to my husband and he stood for everything my father never did. My heart is sad due to the lost and the memories my son wont experience but I will have him present in my home. In his memory this is what I did.

I decided to paint the cut it out frames in gold. The painting went on smooth.

After the paint was dried I picked the pictures which reminded me most of all of Steve. Fishing!! He loved his fishing and he always wanted to take all the boys fishing. He even made a large pond in which he captured and released fish into it. Its a beautiful spot. He never got the opportunity to do it with his grandson but my hubby did take our son. I chose those pictures and one of my father in-law from a old fishing trip he had gone. Now I have three generation fishing. If I do say so myself they are pretty good at it.

I attache lures to the picture frames with hot glue.

Of course I do have my little princess who will also learn to fish as well and I hope to add her picture as well in a couple of years.

I also did a love sign which I used a wood pledge which I placed a stencil on top and spray painted in black. I will be showing the tutorial on that tomorrow!

I got the arrow from target which was an ugly yellow which was not going to do. I decided to spray painted it gold.

It makes me smile every time I pass by those pictures everyday.

Vintage Camera Tripod Lamp

Last year I got inspired my HGTV to make a vintage camera tripod lamp. I always enjoy making something new from some unexpected items. I decided to make another set of vintage cameras tripod lamps, this time I found the tripod in white and I though maybe someone else will enjoy having them in their home. I will be adding them to my Easy shop and a couple of other items as well.

vintage camera tripod lamp, vintage camera, diy, crafts, vintage lamp

You can find the original tutorial on the vintage camera tripod here. I did purchase the lamp from Ikea which has a thread cord with no assembly required. I wish I would have know about that the first time around. It took forever wrapping yarn around the cord the first time.

http://pandoras-craftbox.com/2013/07/diy-vintage-camera-tripod-lamp.html

A vintage camera tripod seems to add that extra touch to any home. If I had my way I would make many of them but finding the tripod is the hard part. I have gotten lucky finding them on eBay but not as frequent as I would like so I could share them with everyone.

Hope you enjoy the tutorial!!

Anthopologie Finds

Anthropologie is one of my favorite places to visit on a Saturday morning. You never know when inspiration might hit you and Anthropologie always is full of new and creative thing that I wish I old just have it all! I especially love shopping in the clearance section , you just never know what you might find and I always find something that I just need to have for my home. As you can imagine this Saturday was no different I found a lovely thing for my home In green which was quiet funny.

anthropologie, anthropologie finds

I decided to use the green sugar pot for my succulents and I will look very lovely sitting on my kitchen table. I had purchased some tea cup a while back however the handle broke and I just decided to use them as succulent pots as well. I enjoy having succulents in home.

I always love a good teacup however, I don’t drink tea. I would like to someday acquired the taste for Hot tea but it it has not happen yet. I was thinking of maybe one day through a cute little tea party for me and my girlfriends, it will definitely give me an excuse to buy more teacups. I guess another trip to Anthropologie is in order.

I also got cute little jade bowls. At this moment I really don’t know what to use them for but A cute tea party I think will be a good excuse to figure something out.

What will you find out your next Anthropologie trip? I’m thinking I might need a couple teapots, good treasure hunting to all you crafters.

San Diego Comic Con 2014

I was going back and forth on my decision about going to San Diego Comic Con this year. I am always very excited to go, but the drive is never fun . This time I did get a driving buddy and we both left our hubbies and kiddos at home! We got there pretty late in the day, but we were really excited about people watching and enjoying all the cosplayers.

One of my favorite things that I got to see was the huge dragon, Smaug, from The Hobbit. It opened and closed one of it eyes. It was huge!

I was very disappointed to find that not a lot of cosplayers were present when we attended. I remember the past years that I could not put my camera down because so many fans were dressed as their favorite fantasy characters. The few I did see I had a blast photographing.

I found this lovely lady hanging out at the Blizzard booth. She is, of course, a demon hunter from Diablo 3 (my husband’s words heh).

They also had President Business at the Lego booth, at that moment I did wish I had my little man with me so he could see it.

I know there are a lot of Game of Thrones fans out there! They had a giveaway for one of the silicon masks for the White Walker.

Here are some other great cosplayers I saw at the San Diego Comic Con 2014.
