Tutorial for Cake Stand & Monster Decorations!

My son's first birthday party was this past weekned. I spent almost month preparing for his party. It was exhausting but so exciting! One of the things I did was to make my own cake stand. I did not want to spend over $20 for a cake stand that will be used only once a year. So this is what I did.

Materials:

1. Candle stick

2. plate

3. crazy glue

4. spray paint

 5. Mod podge sealer

I spray painted the candle stick that I had previously purchased at walmart for $2.00 and a plate for $1.00. It was a steal. I did about four coats of spray paint. Once dried I sprayed the sealer on for the shine and so the paint does not chip with time.

After everything is dried I used the crazy glue to glue the plate and candle stick together.


The end result is a cake stand! It is so easy to make and did not cost me $20.00. I would like to give credit to The mother huddle at http://www.themotherhuddle.com/repurposing-candlestick-holders/. I found her tutorial online and I just though it was a fantastic idea. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did.

I did big monster hang ups from a tutorial from Martha Stewart website; http://www.marthastewart.com/274896/halloween-decorating-and-craft-templates/@center/276965/halloween#/272378. Instead of making pumpkins and black cats, I decided to do monsters for my son's birthday party. I felt like I was in kindergarten again doing arts and crafts again. I just love it!

My hubby did the cake topper for the birthday cake. He made it out of clay and it came out wonderfully! It almost looks like it was store bought. It took him three day to complete the cake topper. We decided to start a tradition in which he will make a new cake topper every year for our son's birthday.

Final ATC Halloween In

All the Halloween Alice ATC are in and ready to get shipped to everyone. It was a wonderful experience and had so much fun with everyone in the milliande community. I received Mel-made card and they look fantastic. I just love the extra touch she did with taking pages from Alice in wonderland and making them into an envelope. Thank you so much Mel-made!


Below you will find Cindy's ATC. They are so cute! I love that it said Halloween on them and all the pumpkins. They get me in the Halloween mood.

Laurie sent hers and they have all the characters from Alice in wonderland. I like the little cat inside the pumpkin. All the cards are so wonderful.
Thank you everyone again and I hope to do another swap in the future. The ATC will be down the rabbit hole and to you all soon.

Computer Desk Makeover

 

I have been so very tired of seeing my hubby use a drawing desk as his computer desk that I decided to give it a makeover. I am so super excited over this DIY project! The project took all weekend, but it was so worth it.

        Materials:

• Camping pad
• Staple gun
• Black spray paint
• Fabric

 

The first step was to cut the camping padding and staple it to the table top.

My hubby had to help me with this step because I needed a lot of upper arm strength to make sure the staples went into the particle board.  As we stapled, we wanted to make sure we had enough padding to staple to the underside of the table. Then we stapled the top side to make sure the padding did not start to rise up.

My hubby was so cute to leave a message on the padding for us to remember. 

The next step was to spray paint the legs. I had to do a couple of coats to make sure the paint stayed. 

And this is the end result!! Now my hubby wont complain that the table is scratching his arms and it looks wonderful in my den. I hope you all like it!

Sneak Peek!

Last night I decided to finally start doing one of my project on my to do list.
But sleep started to take over and I decide to finish the project tonight. But I would like to know what you guys think my project is? Here are the materials:

1. Mod Podge
2. Wood
3. Door knob and plate
4. Black Paint
5. Scrapbook paper
6. White Paint
7. Brushes
8. Tape
9. Glue

I applied the mod podge on the wood and then again on top of the scrapbook paper. After it was dry I cut the extra paper off the wood around the edges. I then  painted the edges black and white.

So tell me what you think the end product will be?

Birthday Cards and Anne Halloween ATC

My little monster's bday is coming up really soon and I just finished doing his birthday cards! I made all kinds of monster to seen to family and friends. I used the Cricut machine to cut out all the monster and then added googly eyes.
I also received Anne ATC last Friday. She made then very coloful and spooky! Thank you Anne for participating on the ATC swap at Milliande.ning.com website.

Wooden Sign

 I decided to make a sign with my family last name. I just love making my apt. feel more like a home. I usually see post with everyone displaying the first letter of the their last name around the home. But I just think my last name is cool so I wanted to use the entire name.

Materials:

• Wooden letters
• Paint
• Paint brush
• Board 
• Crazy glue 

I painted the board that was purchased at the Christmas tree shop for $2 and painted over it with white paint. I applied about three coats of white paint . Then I painted the wooden letters (purchased at hobby lobby for $1) in blue. I only used about two coats of blue. After all was said and done, I crazy glue the letters and let it dry for the night.

The end result was fantastic. I just love how it look on  my wall now. As soon as you walk in my door you can see it. I know that this was not a halloween project but it was something I've been waiting to do for a while.

Halloween Wonderland ATC

I got T. Koorey ATC in the mail from Cali! They are wonderful detailed and have so many cute elements to look at. I specially love the googly eyes. Koorey even used quotes from the book Alice in wonderland. Thank you so much for participating.

I also received Mary ATC in the mail from the UK.  They are supper cute! I just love how everything just pops out at you. Mary is fantastic artist I just love everything she does. I hope everyone is having as much fun with this swap as I am.

Wooden embroidery hoop Halloween Decor

Trick or Treat Halloween give me something good to eat!!

  Yesterday night I made more Halloween decorations. I decided to use wooden embroidery hoops and painted them in black. Then I used fabric that I purchased at Hobby Lobby at 50% off, what a steal!








They just look wonderful on my wall.  You can always replace them with other fabrics once the holiday season is done. I just love them.

Halloween Glass Heads using baby food Jars

I just love my little Halloween monsters! My little boy birthday is coming up and I am trying to decorate the house with little monsters. If you go online you can find different tutorials showing you different ways to make these little guys.

Material

1. Mod podge 

2. tissue paper 

3. baby food glass containers 

4. circle punch 

5. black cardstock

6. scissors

7. applicator

Apply the mod podge to the glass and then add the tissue paper to it. Let it dry and then add cut out of the face and mouth.

The end product is a illuminating monster head!! They look fantastic with lights in them. I had so much fun with them.

My Halloween Wreath

Halloween is the best time of the year! I just love Halloween and this year I decided to try to make a Halloween project everyday in October. But it turn out to be much more difficult than I though. It took me about four day to finish the wreath! Why? You ask. Because I kept wanting to add more things to it or I would run out of materials. But at the end of it all and for being my first time making a wreath, I thinking it came out pretty good.I began with a wire frame purchased at Michael's for like $3 and added packing paper around  the wiring to add more dimension to it.Then I hot glue the ribbon to the packing paper.  I found the ribbons at the Christmas Tree shop for $1. I purchased the ribbon in orange and black. I used about three rolls of 15ft of ribbon on the wreath. And I also found the cute little spooky sign for $1 at the same store. I added some black roses to it as well as purple bats that I had from a previous Halloween around the house.

As you can see the end product below. I just love my wreath! I hope you all enjoyed it as well. Happy Halloween!!!
