Happy New Year Blogger World

I can't believe that a New Year has come so fast. Where does the time go?!  Today is a day were I reflect in the last year and look forward to what's coming ahead. In 2012 I moved to California, two of my good friends got engaged, I blog a lot more and got to go to San Diego Comic Con. If was a very busy year but I would not change anything. 

Thank you to my wonderful followers for the inspiring comments and for keeping me motivated. I have wonderful thing coming up in the New Year.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday's

I hope you are all having a wonderful Christmas. I am every excited to this year because this year my little monster will actually get to open his presents instead of us helping him. I can't wait to see his face in the morning. I know this are the years I will cherish the most. I also can't wait to see my hubby's face when he finds his special present under the Christmas tree.

Weekend Wrap- up with a real pinterest board

We are very lucky this Christmas to be sharing it with my in-laws.  My little one loves having family around and of course all the attention he gets. We had a fantastic time at the San Diego Zoo! It is a very different experience from any other Zoo I have been too. You actually get a workout from going to the Zoo. Can you imagine that you have too climb hills but the best part is using the skyram where you can see part of Downtown San Diego. 

One interesting thing that happened was one of the jungle cats though my little monster was a chicken nugget because he kept following him around in his cage. He did not follow anyone else. You better believe I held my son close the entire time. 

If you are ever in San Diego the Zoo is definitely the place to go while visiting.

I also found the most interesting and wonderful thing while shopping at the mall! Do you believe that they have a real pinterest board. Yes, they do, and its wonderful. So whenever your phone is not working just stop by the mall at UTC and you will get your updates. haha.

Its time to spend time with the family.

The World did not end but...

On December the 21st, the Earth will enter a ring called The Photonic Belt, at 1:00 am, when there will be a blackout on the planet and three days of darkness. NASA confirmed it on December 8th, 2012. They say that when it gets completely dark, it will be really cold and flashes of light will occur. Nothing will happen, it's just an extraordinary phenomenon that happens every 11,000 years.

It is recommended to stay at home, since there won't be any power and so electronic devices won't work. The three days of darkness will pass and that's what the Mayan calendar was referring to.

DIY Mirror Frame Idea

You guys have seen this frame before on one of my previous post of decorating. However, what you might not know is that the mirror frame came from a flea market find. The mirror only cost me $3!! As soon as I saw it, I knew exactly were it was going to go. Their was just one little problem with it. It had such an ugly color.

The mirror frame looked like it has seen a couple of different paint coats but I was determined to bring it to life. Most of the furniture in my home is dark wood or black so it was easy to pick the color for the frame.  I went out to home depot and got a painters sample that only cost about $3.50.  I was so happy that home depot offers this new samples from bear because I rarely need any more than just 7.25 FL OZ. 

All I did just taped up the inside of mirror as to not get paint on it and went to town. The paint dried pretty fast and then just went up on my wall.

You can't even tell that it was a flea market find or any other color but black.

DIY Snow globe

Today we have a treat for you! I have made a beautiful DIY snow globe. I also have two wonderful guests who are also doing two beautiful tutorials on Ornaments. 

I love the snow and the winter wonderland it greats. Since I lived in sunny California I am bringing in the snow to my home.

DIY Christmas Place Cards Holders

No table is complete with out place cards holders for the occasion. I made mine out of Christmas Ornaments found at Aaron's bothers frame store. They are ornaments and little frames in one! It added that extra touch to the table. 

If you have not use PicMonkey then you are missing out, its a great program for fast touch ups and for making buttons for your blog or easy editing for pictures. I made this cute little image with my name in it using  PicMonkey.

Then I just added them to a Microsoft document and print them out. I went ahead and traced the original picture in the frame and then cut them out.

The ornament is the perfect little pinecone to go in my table and maybe yours too.

Now my Christmas table is done with these DIY Christmas Place Cards Holders!

Dear throat, please stop hurting because
I want to sleep.

Dear Spiders, I would like for all you to stop using my porch as your home because I really don't want to squish. However, don't take my niceness as weakness cause  I am not afraid to use force.

Dear  Mail carries,  thank you for being so patient and since even after having such a long line at your post office.

Dear Comic Con, I won't be able to attend because my hubby for got to sign up.

Dear Santa, we are coming to see you again this year, I hope my little monster loves taking his picture with you again. 

Even skull should be able to where a Santa  hat for the holiday's.

Christmas Table Decorating Ideas

I am so sad that this Christmas I don't have a fireplace to decorate so I decided to completely make over my dinning room table. Another reason I am making my table all festive is because I have my inlaws-coming to visit for the holiday's. I can't wait to have them over, we don't get to see family very often so when they come its a real treat. I know my little monster will be so happy to be spoiled so more. 

How to make a felt Christmas tree

I made a very cute rose Felt Christmas Tree this holiday season. I was so excite to try this new technique that I decided to make a video tutorial for it. The tutorial will tell you all the materials you will need and how easy is to make this lovely roses out of felt just in time to make your table or mantel beautiful.

Christmas Domes DIY

I've been waiting to do a Christmas domes DIY for a while and I just went for it this Christmas. I was inspired by Michael's miniature towns they have every Christmas. They also made it very easy to me since they had them on sale! I grabbed a few and went home to brain storm. 

I got the domes at world market and the wooden base at Michael's. 

The base were to plain for my taste. I adore dark woods so I went out and got a strainer that can be found at your local hardware store. 

I applied two coat of strainer to each wooden base and let it dry overnight. 

I purchase white felt and cut it to the dimension of the wooden base. I did this because I did not want the base to show threw the fake snow.

Then I grabbed the hot glue gun and glued red beads to one of the Christmas trees. I also hot glued all the miniature decorations to the felt so they would not move or fall over. 

I made a snowman out of air dry clay. Now its time to paint him!

I used distress markers to paint my little snowman. I really did not want to mess with all the acrylic paint and then the clean up afterwards. The Tim Holtz distress markers did the job great. I also glued on ribbon to make it look a little bit more realistic  The scene reminds me of central park in the winter. I really miss home during the holiday season. 

Now its time to add snow flurries to your scene. It can't be Christmas with out a little of snow. 

I also did another scene which reminds me of upstate NY where my hubby is from. There you could see untouched snow for miles.

Creepmas Tag

Etsy has the best seller anywhere. I found this cute little creepy Santa for my creepy tag. I also used Dylusion sprays for the background which I just love. I love how the inks mix together and make other colors. 

In coloring the Santa I use a wet paint brush and distress ink pads. I was able to have more control over where I wanted the inks to go. I printed the Santa on regular white paper.

Holiday little letters

Dear Christmas Tree,  every time you light up to put me in the holiday mood.

Dear Retailers, I don't believe that  you should be opened on Thanksgiving day . Everyone should have the opportunity to be home with friends  and family.

Dear Me, get you butt in motion because this house needs to be ready before the in-laws get here.

Dear  Sun, can we please get a little bit more sunlight , so I can enjoy  the  evening more.

How to make Christmas Ribbon Bow napkin rings and a tag

The holiday season is upon us and I have began to do my holiday crafting with a Christmas ribbon bow napkin rings. I am having my in-laws over this Christmas and I am trying to set up my table for Christmas dinner. I found that one of the things missing from my table is Christmas napkin rings. I got the perfect inspiration while shopping at target. In their Christmas section they had a cute little bow napkin rings and I though that would be so cute with some color. 

So here is what I came up with!

Materials for the yarn napkin rings:

Used toilet roll (if its anything like my home they are never replace and should be easy to find)

Red yarn

Hot glue gun

Scissor

You will be able to get about four napkin rings out of each toilet paper roll for more you could always use paper towel roll.

Just take the yarn and start wrapping it around the cut toilet roll.

Once you have wrapped it all around glue the end with your hot glue gun.

Now to being the ribbon bow, you will need ribbon 2 1/2 inches. I usually purchase my ribbon from Michael's every year and I decided to use ribbon I had purchased previous years that I had use around my tree. 

You will need to cut the ribbon into four different measurements. 

 Each ribbon will need to be folded in half. 

You will need to take the top of the ribbon and fold it toward the center of the ribbon to make a little triangle. 

Follow previous step for the bottom part of ribbon so you end up with two triangle at each end. 

Staple the center of the ribbon. I used one staple but you can use as many as you think will be needed. The last piece which is 4 inches, you will need to just staple each end to each other to make a circle.

Once all of the ribbon has been folded and stapled you will need to hot glue each piece to each other. Starting with the 10 inches. 

 Once you have glued the last ribbon now you can glued it to the yarn napkin rings.

Ta-Da!

You are now done and you can even use the ribbon bow to place on your Christmas presents.
