Once upon a time I found this footstool at a flea market for $2!! I have been looking for one and just as I was about to give up the search I found this beauty in the back of the store hidden away. The owner was closing down her store and she told me her daughter used to sleep on the stool when she would come with her to the store. I was expecting her to charge $20, which I would have given her, and when i heard her say $2 I could not take the money fast enough out of my pocket.
I already knew this footstool would belong to my red beauty.
The footstool was not difficult to reupholster, the only hard part was removing all the fabric and foam. I had to use the hubby's brawn to remove all the fabric. He is wonderful!
I removed all the foam and fabric (well the hubby did) and left the spring and burlap on the footstool.
Now the fun part begins, I ran to Joann that same night and got some 3 inch foam. I always seem to be running to Joann's 30 minutes before they close. I feel horrible to be in the store when they close, I know all the associates just want to go home and I am just there standing in line at 8:55pm.
Then I used extra fabric that was left over from the red velvet chair to cover the top of the footstool. I stapled it all around the footstool.
When it come to covering the bottom part I wrapped one piece of fabric around the footstool. I again had to go run to Joann's for an extra piece of fabric but this time I made sure I did not go at eight o'clock at night.
I used the same trim that was used on the chair to make it match. I also reused the decorative nails that it came with and just painted them black and re-nailed them to the footstool.
The total spent on the footstool was around $20! Now I have a comfy chair with and cute footstool.
Till next time
