OCEANS
I wanted to officially introduce my store called Oceans. The reason its called Oceans is because I love whales. When I was a child I wanted to be a whale biologist and to this day I hope to one day go back to school and get a second degree in marine biology. When I was in college I was taking Biological Sciences and decided to change it to Forensic Psychology because I found that biology was just not for me. My counselor, who was also my teacher, just said you will be back. I never asked him why he said that but it has stuck with me to this day and now I know what he meant.
Since I live in Texas there are no oceans here so I can not pursue my degree in Marine biology. However, I can still help others become aware of helping maintain our marine ecosystem and help stop whaling. The purpose of my store is to help donate to the Sea Shepherd foundation. I found about the Sea Shepherd foundation by watching Whale Wars on Animal planet. The first time I watched the show I had my hand on my chest and my mouth wide open. I could not believe they were people with such dedication to protect whales and other marine life.
They are putting their heart, soul and life on the line to help protect whales and stop whaling. Every time I watch whale wars I have to fight the tears. How can we just kill such innocent creatures. They can not defend themselves and we have to protect them because no one else will.
And that is how Oceans came to be. We can't ignore the need to help this foundation, we can't think "out of sight out of mind". We have placed so many species on the endangered list and others we have completely erased out of existence. We have not right to kill everything in sight just to make our lives better.
My store was not made for me to get rich. It was made to help donate to this cause, that is why I will donate 20% of each sale than the initial 10% because it was not enough.
I try to make different items that will appeal to everyone. I hope you all can find something you will love to own.
Right now my favorite piece is the filigree butterfly necklace.
