Wooden Rustic Serving Tray

Every year I change my home decor right after the holidays. I really want to focus on minimal with a touch of rustic. My hubby and I love the outdoor brought inside. If we had our dream home we would have a large backyard full of trees. However, we live in a two bedroom apartment with a small balcony, the good thing is I always make it work. I started with taking a wood slice or slap and making a serving tray.

I made the wood serving tray to place the milk and cookies for Santa last year. I also like to use it our romantic date nights.

If you don't have a tree in your backyard that you can chop down then go to your local craft store and they have wood slaps. You only need to do a couple of things. Sealing the slice of wood is good to start. It keeps it from drying especially if you live in California.

I used Shellac which has a sweet smell and it dries in about an hour. I did two coats to seal the entire slice of wood.

After the wood has dried I attached the drawer handles to the wood.

Just keep in mind that the sealer will darkened the wood a little. Now you have your very own rustic wooden serving tray!

Stay Crafty,

Loren

LOVE IT~ I too love rustic decor. Have used wood like this to decorate with as well. We have one bedroom in our house we call the Whitetail Buck Room. Everything in it is Hunting. Took some of wood pieces my husband cut for me and decorated around some trees and I could not believe the difference it made in the look. Love this idea! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
