Today we are joined by Ashley from Cherished Bliss! Ashley has a fantastic blog and you all should stop by and show her some love. Here is her interview!
1. The one question that you all might get asked the most is, What got you in to blogging?
I
think it started from my etsy shop. When I opened it I noticed a lot of
other shop owners writing blogs, and I thought to myself "I guess I
should do it too" I am SO SO glad I did because blogging has become one
of my favorite things to do. It's that thing when you are a mother
that's your own. It has pushed me to do things I never knew I could do :
) My husband thinks I'm a little crazy now though grabbing things from
the trash, but he's not to upset about the price reduction in a lot of
areas ; )
2. What made you decide to blog about crafting?
Well
about a year before I started blogging I wanted to make my daughter's
crib bedding because I couldn't find one I wanted, so when I started
looking through the blog world and finding all these awesome tutorials
and such I wanted to blog about my journey of learning to sew and all
these DIY projects I am attempting. Plus it makes me happy, and that is
what is important! If you are blogging about something just because
everyone else is doing it, it becomes another chore, kinda like folding
laundry, and who wants to do that? Blog about what you love! I see so
many homeschooling blogs that I love because I plan on homeschooling my
kids. I'm so thankful there are women out there who blog about it to
help me and many others get some awesome ideas! Write what you love and
people will follow!
3. What other talents do you have that your bloggers might not know about?
Hmm..
I LOVE to do theatre lighting. I did it all through high school and now
I do it at my church. It's a passion of mine, I love it!
4. Do you have any advice to new bloggers?
Well
I still consider myself "new to blogging". So I will just share with
you what I have learned. Like I said before, blog about what you love.
Also, blog regularly! It pushes you to really get going and it becomes
easier once you get in the swing of things. When I started out I only
posted like 4 times a month. Once I really started posting regularly I
felt better about my blog and it gave me the confidence to push forward.
It also helps when you start seeing a response form others! Also, find
link parties that pertain to your blog! There are all kinds of them,
they are a great way to get connected and find others that share your
interests! Which leads me to my last point, make friends, talk to
bloggers... most everyone in the blogging world are super nice and love
to help each other out!
5. Do you feel competition from other bloggers?
I
did at first, it's only natural. You see all these people with huge
followings and tons of comments, but I soon realized they worked really
hard to get there! Don't feel like they are your competitors, just a
more experience friend. : )
6. What's your favorite craft project?
Oh wow, this one is tough. I'm always so excited about what I make right after I make it, so right now I would have to say my Yarn Tote
. I take it everywhere and it makes my life so much easier! Well, when it comes to crocheting anyways. I love my Christmas Mantel too
, I made just about everything on it!
7. What blogger do you admire the most or what blog do you visit the most?
I love so many blogs! Janette at the Johanson Journey
has become my best friend! I love her!! I also love See Kate Sew,
she's adorable and I love everything she does! There are so many others
though that have inspired me: Sugar Bee Crafts, The 36th Avenue, The
DIY Showoff, I mean the list goes on!!
8. Where do you see your blogging career taking you?
Well
I mean who doesn't want to make money blogging! I would love to say
that I would be able to help support my crafting addictions with the
money I make blogging. But I see myself sharing everything I do for the
blog world to see, meeting some great people along the way, and being
completely happy with the life I make for myself each and every day!
9. Where do you see your blog in five years?
Where
do I see it? On the internet..haha : ) (that's me making a joke!) I
would like to think that my blog only improves and I get better at it!
As long as I am doing all the things that make me happy, that is where
my blog will be. "Where ever you go, there you'll be" -The Brady Bunch
Movie (yes I quote The Brady Bunch)
10. How many hours a week do you spend blogging?
Too
many! Let's see... I always wake up, check my email, blog, stats, etc.
(while making breakfast). I then obsessively check my email, make lunch,
I usually type stuff up in the afternoon while my youngest is napping,
make dinner, and finish up anything late at night... do you see a
pattern? Yup food, blog, food, blog, with the good ole mommy stuff in
there too! I'm pretty busy all the time. You want to know where I find a
few extra hours in the day?? It's a secret though! I suck at laundry...
you will always find some in my house, clean -- dirty, but rarely in a
closet or a drawer. I like to wash it, dry it, re dry it... pour it out
on my bed... let it sit for a while... fold it... forget about it, put
it back in the laundry basket because the kids are sleeping and I dare
NOT go in their room... and start the process all over again. : )
11. If you are a new blogger do you seek help from others?
I
definitely consider myself new, and yes I ask for help and advice a
lot, BUT I am a figure it out on my own kinda person so I do try and
figure stuff out by myself just as often if not more... something I'm
working on. I do love talking to others about blogging though and have
received some GREAT advice from other bloggers!
12. How many post do you typically put up on a week?
I try to do no less than 4, very rarely will I. But I would like to post once daily.. that's the idea!
Thank you so much Ashley for participating! I hope you all have a wonderful day and see you tomorrow for more fun!
