I am so happy to present Eye Heart! She is such a lovely blogger, I just love reading and seeing her grow. I hope you all enjoy the interview as much as I did.
1. What got you in to
blogging?
I have been following
and admiring other blogs for a long time and in all honesty I just wanted
to be part of that community. I see it as a way to make new friends with
the same interests as me. I have found that we are all similar in one way
or another and it's comforting to know that in many aspects of my life I'm not
alone. I have a huge support group and it feels good.
2. What made you decide to blog about crafting?
I am an artsy
fartsy person and have been since I was just a little girl. It made
sense to blog about crafting, art and my other interests. It's what came
naturally for me. I am always working on something and it's nice to be
able to share it and get some feedback. Also it's a good way for me to
archive my projects and be able to have them in one place so that I can
later reminisce and see how I have grown and developed my
skills. I used to keep a notebook but this is much better, more fun
and more organized. The bonus part is being able to communicate with other
bloggers.
3. What other talents do you have that your bloggers might not know about?
I like to sing
opera in the shower but I wouldn't call it a talent. It's just
something I do.
4. Do you have any advice to new bloggers?
If I was giving advice
to a new blogger I would say that even though your readers matter you
should blog as if though there is no one watching/reading. That way you are more
open and honest. I truly admire someone who is not afraid to show their
failures in life as much as
their accomplishments.
5. Do you feel competition from other bloggers?
Personally,
I haven't experienced competition from other bloggers but I haven't been
blogging for too long. I have read from other bloggers that it does happen
and I hope it never happens to me because I have a hard enough time keeping
up with all the things I want to do let alone outdo anyone else.
Yikes!
6. What's your favorite
craft project?
My favorite craft projects
involve fabric. When I was younger I used to sew clothes for my teddy bears and
Barbie’s. As I got older I started to sew dresses for my sister and used to make
bags and cushions and lots of other things. My home economics teacher was really
impressed with me in middle school. Yup, I was really proud. Ha ha. My first job ever
was sewing skirts for a tailor shop my mom worked at. She also had me help her
when she sewed some costumes for a movie set. When I finally got my own sewing
machine I felt really important and grown up. I didn’t sew for a long time but I
have started in the past few years and I have a long list of projects that I
want to work on. It also comes in handy for altering some of my pants since I am
really short all my pants need to be hemmed.
7. What blogger do you admire the most or what blog do you visit the most?
Benita Larsson from Chez Larsson
is my favorite blogger. I have been reading her blog the longest and I think
she’s way cooler than Martha Stewart. I mean the woman builds furniture from
scratch. I also read Making It Lovely, Claudine Hellmuth, How Joyful, Apartment
Therapy and Uncommon pretty much on a daily basis.
8. Where do you see your blogging career taking you?
Currently I have a full time job
but I have been giving some serious though to starting my own home business. I’m
just not sure exactly what I’m going to do. I’m just trying to have fun with it
now.
9. Where do you see your blog in five years?
I don’t really have any long
term plans for my blog other than doing what I am doing now which is taking it
day by day.
10. How many hours a week do you spend blogging?
I probably spend about 10-12
hours on my blog every week.
11. If you are a new blogger do you seek help from others?
In a way I suppose you could say
I do. I don’t normally contact anyone directly but Google Search has answered a
lot of questions I’ve had. The answers have come from other bloggers who shared
tips and tricks.
12. How many post do you typically put up on a week?
I try to have a post every day
but sometimes I don’t have anything to post. I work full time and so I don’t get
the opportunity to work on as many projects as I wish I could work on. Sometimes
I just post about things that have been on my mind and other bloggers or
websites that inspire me. It’s my creative journal and I’m not creative every
day.
Anything else you would like to add?
I would like to say thank you
for taking the time to interview me like this. Being the new blogger in town
sometimes is a little hard because I feel that sometimes the blogs that have
been around the longest get more respect that the “little guys”. This really
made me feel important.
I hope you all enjoyed the journey today with Eye Heart.
Join me tomorrow for more wonderful bloggers.
